Ever try being a mosquito?

If you think you're too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito in the room.
— Anita Roddick

I recently discovered that quote on a Facebook page of a very close friend.  Each day we face challenges, opportunities, and circumstances that sometimes make us feel as big as a moose or as small as a tiny mosquito.  We tend to either become bogged down with the feeling of guilt, failure, stress, etc., or, depending on the situation, we feel like we are soaring on wings of eagles and it almost seems as if things are falling into place as each day is brought to us.

Now, some of you may think that things that come your way are circumstances that you "deserve", (positive or negative), however, when we really think about the society that we live in, I find too often that that "deserve" word is full of selfishness.  Whether it is in the show ring, workforce, within your own family, etc., is there really anything in life that we deserve?

It makes me think about the sinless, pride less, full of love and mercy, Jesus.  Some believe that He deserved everything He got as He sacrificed His life for you and me.  However, should that really be our focus when we ponder on the wonderful person that Jesus is?  I find it more appealing to Jesus and God that we strive daily to be a light for Him and do our best to impact the world in a positive and loving way. Many individuals become blind to the opportunities and chances that God gives us to show his love and mercy to individuals who don't know Him. As you analyze your life, sometimes it may be best to pray that that things that make God's heart ache will be the same things that your heart breaks for.

Impacting the lives of others in a positive way, can make a world of a difference.  You never know when a simple card, phone call, e-mail, or personal visit to someone can make their day just that much better or it could even change their life forever.

Even in the cold, harsh, months of winter... mosquitoes can still be alive.  Will you be a mosquito?
